QR Code Setup

QR Code Setup

QR codes are the primary way customers discover and access your digital menu in a physical restaurant setting. MenuGaze generates QR codes that link directly to your public menu URL, making it easy for customers to scan and browse from their phone.

Generating Your QR Code

  1. Go to the QR Code section in your dashboard sidebar.
  2. Your restaurant QR code is generated automatically based on your public menu URL. You will see a preview of the code.
  3. Click Download to save the QR code as a high-resolution PNG image file.

The downloaded QR code is print-ready at 300 DPI, suitable for professional printing at any size.

Print Sizing Recommendations

Placement Recommended Size Notes
Table tent card 4 by 6 inches Most common for dine-in. Place one on every table.
Counter stand 5 by 7 inches Good for counter-service restaurants or checkout areas.
Window sticker 8 by 10 inches Visible from outside. Include a "Scan to view menu" message.
Business card 0.75 by 0.75 inches (minimum) Small but scannable. Test before mass printing.
Flyer or receipt 1.5 by 1.5 inches (minimum) Include your restaurant name and a brief call to action.

Where to Place QR Codes

  • On every table β€” This is the most important placement. Use table tent cards, stickers, or acrylic stand holders.
  • At the entrance β€” Let customers browse your menu while waiting to be seated.
  • On the counter β€” For counter-service or takeout restaurants.
  • In the window β€” Attract passersby with a "Scan to view our menu" sticker.
  • On packaging β€” Include QR codes on takeout bags, boxes, and receipts for reorder convenience.

Testing Your QR Code

Before printing in bulk, always test your QR code:

  1. Print a single copy at the size you plan to use.
  2. Scan it with at least two different phones (iOS and Android if possible).
  3. Verify it loads your menu correctly and the menu looks good on mobile.
  4. Test from the distance customers will typically scan from (arms length for table placement, a few feet for window stickers).

Tip: If you have the Ordering Suite enabled, use table-specific QR codes instead of a single restaurant QR code. Table QR codes automatically link the customer to the correct table for ordering. See the Ordering Setup guide.
